Since 2000, David Lien has developed a workshop-based approach to making violins, violas and cellos for musicians seeking expressive response, tonal character and lasting value.
Built with selected European tonewoods, traditional Cremonese-style internal molds and hand-applied oil varnish, each instrument is individually set up and tonally adjusted in Taiwan.
從木材到聲音

Selected European Tonewoods
European spruce and maple are carefully selected and naturally seasoned according to the instrument’s level and model, providing a stable foundation for tonal development.

Traditional Construction
Each instrument is carved, graduated and assembled using a traditional Cremonese-style internal mold, with close attention to the relationship between the top, back and bass bar.

Hand-Applied Oil Varnish
Oil varnish is applied by hand to enhance the natural character of the wood and create depth, warmth and individuality in the finish.

Individual Setup and Tonal Adjustment
Every instrument receives final fitting, setup and tonal adjustment in Taiwan to support balanced response, clarity and projection across the registers.
為演奏者而製作

David Lien Workshop instruments are developed for players seeking a warm tonal core, clear articulation and a responsive feel across a wide dynamic range.
Each instrument is adjusted individually rather than treated as a fixed factory setting, allowing its own tonal character to emerge more clearly

The series is available in five levels:
- Orchestra — Designed for orchestral use, stable and well-balanced.
- Concert — Suitable for competitions and concert performances.
- ConcertMaster — Greater tonal refinement and stronger projection.
- Soloist — Built for the professional solo stage with powerful expression.
- Master — The highest level, representing the pinnacle of craftsmanship and artistry.
