For the second year in a row, my Mr. Lien has been a huge help during my tours to Taiwan. Both years he was extremely kind in providing me with a cello to use while I was there. In December 2024 I had the privilege of performing on a cello made by Mr. Lien in 2023. As a part of the Broken Frames Syndicate’s collaboration with TimeArt Studio, we perform music from the last 75 years to today that demands a versatile instrument. I need a cello that can sing, make noise, and provide a blanket for the rest of the ensemble to sit on. Mr. Lien’s cello gave me the grit required of Xenakis and the soulful singing in Huang-long Pan’s music with rich lows and great projection in the high register. Mr. Lien and his entire staff were very kind to us, and even recommended a delicious dumpling restaurant down the street. 大提琴家Nathan Watts，來自美國賓夕法尼亞州費城，目前居住在德國法蘭克福。他致力於透過多樣化的節目策劃和合作，讓當代音樂和即興演奏保持活力與易於接近。2024 年 2 月，他加入了 Mivos String Quartet，這是一個專注於與作曲家密切合作的弦樂四重奏團體，致力於委託創作、首演作品並拓展當代音樂曲目。

Nathan 也是法蘭克福的 Broken Frames Syndicate（BFS）成員之一。BFS 是 2024 年 Siemens Ensemble Prize 的獲獎團體，透過主題性節目策劃及探索替代演出形式，挑戰傳統音樂會的常規。該團體最近在美國首次亮相，包括在哈佛大學的駐留演出，以及在紐約市與 Jalalu Kalvert Nelson 的合作音樂會，於 Roulette Intermedium 和 Zurcher Gallery 舉行。

作為 Lucerne Festival Contemporary Leaders 的一員，Nathan 參與策劃 Forward Festival，並在 Lucerne Festival Contemporary Orchestra 擔任表演者，同時於 Lucerne Festival Academy 擔任指導老師。他最近的個人項目包括錄製 Jalalu-Kalvert Nelson 的大提琴獨奏前奏曲，以及一張以臥室窗外冥想為靈感的即興專輯《The Invention of Listening》。深度聆聽（Deep Listening）是他作為音樂家的核心理念，塑造了他在音樂中的存在方式，並創造出與特定時間與地點相符的音樂情境。

Nathan 擁有克利夫蘭音樂學院的音樂學士學位，師從 Stephen Geber，並在萊斯大學取得音樂碩士學位，師從 Desmond Hoebig。此外，他還於法蘭克福 HfMDK 的 International Ensemble Modern Academy 完成了碩士學位。
